We are raised beach -- free draining sandy loam -- nearly pure sand in

We have lying water patches all over the fields again :~(
The spring fed ponds we have all over had only dropped a couple of inches in
the drier spell. The water was locked in the soil by the frost.
We need some weeks of dry to make a difference


In the last half hour, for the first time since Monday evening, we can
now see more than about 2km and the cloud base has lifted to more than
700 metres. No snow visible.
