Was very disappointed in the BBC presenter yesterday (21st) who
a) seemed to think it was the spring equinox, and
b) seemed to think that this conferred the title "Official First Day

I know a few people like to think that spring begins at the vernal
equinox even though this is merely an astronomic artefact; many
disagree. Whatever, it ain't official. No way.
I'm almost sure that, on the BBC1 13:30 forecast yesterday, Philip
Gibbs said something like '...from now on the nights start getting
shorter' which, of course, is more rubbish.
I sometimes think that I should stop watching this stuff for the sake
of my blood pressure...
I don't like being a GOM but it's very difficult not to.
