BRACKNELL (TF)
0610 SSW F2-3 10km -RA HZ 3/SC 7/SC 8/AS T109D092
RMK: Rain has just started here.=
0730 SSW F3 6000 -RA BR 7/SC 8/SC T104D089
RMK: steady/light rain now, but evaporation just about keeping up with
the rain so surfaces not particularly damp.=
0745 SSW F3 5000 -RA BR 3/ST 7/SC 8/SC
RMK: Rainfall intensity, though still light (-RA), is sufficient to
dampen ground generally - visibility also creeping down.=
0800 SSW F3 5000 -RA BR 4/ST 7/SC 8/SC T102D088
RMK: St base (lowest) somewhere around 800/900ft, with the SC layers
1500 and 3000ft. Steady, but light, rain.=
0900 SW F2 4000 -RA BR 2/ST 6/ST 8/SC T103D093
RMK: Cloud motion (lowest) more from west now (base circa 700ft), so we
must be close to surface frontal discontinuity going through; PPN very
light now - a period of moderate rain (RA) since last observation has
left everything nicely damp/wet.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 10.0 grass min: 07.4 precipitation: 0.6 ]=
1100 WSW F2 25km -RA 6/SC 8/AS T092D074
RMK: A period of RADZ (thick rain & drizzle) around 10Z, but
thereafter, very light rain from the rearward overhang associated with
the cold front; visibility at least 25km, may be mo cloud base no
lower than 4000ft.=
1300 W F2 35km - 1/CU 7/SC //CI T101D077
RMK: Rain ceased by 1130Z: Cu observed limited vertical extent. Also
present are 2 oktas Sc to the east, i.e. in the zone of the retreating
front. The main Sc deck is around 6000ft, and there appears to be a
break to the distant west where Ci is illuminated.=

1800 SW F2 25km - 2/SC 6/CI T116D040
RMK: The Cirrus has a floccus element (PPN streamers leaving the base)
and the whole environment at high levels exhibits a high degree of
shear. In addition, 2 oktas of Ac present, and as I look out of the
window, the western horizon is looking quite 'threatening' - presumably
the 2nd cold front or trough to come.
[ DAYTIME DATA (09Z - 18Z):
screen max: 12.5 precipitation: 0.2
other data: Hard/paved surfaces dried well.]=
