not want to use that terminology, being a woman.

"Dumb down" that will do it. Aim everything at the lowest common
denominator. Don't even thing of using science or educating the
public. What ever you do never use a presenter or reporter who knows
what they are talking about.
If you treat the public like their dumb they will become dumb.
