Default Discrepancies in 5-Day Forecast Temperatures on the Web

There are marked discrepancies in the 5-day forecast temperatures for
Oxford, issued by the BBC Weather Centre and the Met Office:

Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
Max Min Max Min Max Min Max Min Max Min

BBC 4 -3 3 -4 4 -5 5 0 5 5

UKMO 3 -2 2 -1 5 2 7 4 11 8

Difference 7 6

This seems an unexpected difference in interpretation, when the input
data and employer appear to be the same. Predicted local cloud cover
is probably the key. But if personal interpretations can vary this
much, I'd appreciate a little acknowledgement on the display of which
meteorologist was making the forecast.

I think the BBC have led the way in improving information on their
5-day forecasts, and that the UKMO are listening and catching up.

I'd now like probabilities added to their forecasts:-)

Cheers,

keith
