Default [WR] Howhill 15th April

Dave is just about correct with his summary, just back from the area, high
routes well covered in snow, drifting snow aswell above 1600feet - level
depth around 3-4inches at best, drifts to about 1foot on the very tops

A689 Alston to Stanhope and A686 Alston to Penrith over Hartside worst
affected

Snow became heavy mid evening, then turned to powdery type snow later,
almost sounded like hailstones as it hit the windscreen, no doubt something
to do with layers of hot and cold in the clouds ?

Snow continues as far as Hallbankgate at around 700feet - I am back at home
and currently have sleet and plus 3c

cheers
