Lowest April absolute max for many years?
In message .com,
writes
This month has been noticeable for a lack of any real early summer-like
weather, in contrast to March. On the other hand it hasn't been
noticeably cold either, just uncharacteristically equable, unusual for
a spring month and again in contrast to March.
What's the highest temperature this month so far? Isn't it just under
20c? Can't see it being beaten with a decidedly cool-looking set up for
the next few days; so it looks like this month will have the lowest
April UK maximum for some years; and indeed, we won't beat the March
maximum
Nick
I think you are being unduly pessimistic about this April with respect
to the warmest day of the year.
In Coventry, we have recorded a high of 18.1C.
With records back to 1892, we have had 39 years with a lower monthly
maximum than 2005.
In 2001 = 17.4C
1976= 13.9C
1978=13.3C - this being the lowest maximum in the series.
So cheer up mate, it's spring after all, and May is just around the
corner!
