Arctic Ice
In article ,
says...
Steady on.
Rewind the clock and compare for another month (say Aug 2004, 2001 and 1998).
Surprise, surprise - no significant trend. We have to be careful.

I have made a small alteration to my web site showing Arctic Ice
concentration
maps. The three maps displayed are today, this day 3 years ago, and this
day
six years ago. I made this change because it shows dramatically just how
much
the concentration has reduced in only six years. See;

John and Alastair,
The better comparison would be the trend in the minimum extent variable.
There is more noise in the monthly (daily is worse yet) data. The "concentration"
data is calculated in a way which may not give an accurate value of fractional
coverage, IMHO.
