Thunderstorm passed over here between 3 and 4am (BST). Never seen

flashes every 2-5 seconds for that entire period. Thunder was
surprisingly muted, but was a continuous rumble rather than discrete
crashes. Heavy rain for the mid period (3:25 - 3:40) only.

Also passed over Peterborough, but the gf wouldn't let me go out with my
camera! But the frequency of lightning flashes was really high as you say.
