Default BBC News 24 completely ignoring today's severe weather.

Absolutely correct, although local radio stations have been quite good. This
is where a special designated Channel for Weather and traffic details etc
independent from the hype on the media e.g. Hutton report or a plethora of
things which cut out weather info such as Royal weddings, football matches,
rugby, Olympics etc.etc. A look at the radar map this afternoon would easily
had plotted the progress. I too, looked on BBC News and the weather was
ignored. To be fair it is really is a news Channel and it brings me back to
having a proper designated Channel. We seem to have channels for virtually
everything else these days. If it was done properly it would be one of the
most popular Channels- but needs to be dynamic and informative.
White out here in Coulsdon with vivid lightning and thick snow cover in
minutes.

All afternoon, on the one day of the year they should have been
issuing weather warnings, BBC News 24 have TOTALLY ignored the
weather.

Now I know the Hutton Report is important but *not to the extent of
ignoring the onset of severe weather probably affecting more people
than any other day this Winter*.

The BBC have been hammered in the Hutton Report and should now be
hammered for this afternoons failure to report and warn about
*important* weather News. They seem totally unable to strike the right
balance. Sad, and a failure of public duty IMHO.
