Had to drive into the city during the worst of the snow, flakes the size of
dinner-plates(!) started falling after a brief period of rain. The temperature
dropped from ps02 to ms01 on the car thermometer during this time as the snow
became lighter and powdery. Now about 3 or 4 cm lying.

Basically the city has now ground to halt, nearly everywhere grid-locked, cars
facing the wrong way on roundabouts etc. SNAFU

As I was trying to teach the 3rd form about ski resorts in the Alps this
afternoon, whilst also looking out of the window logging snow events, I
thought I heard thunder in Coventry (widely reported elsewhere).

Did you hear any thunder?

Would appreciate confirmation that it wasn't a pupil moving his desk!!!!

I was trying to leave the clogged inner ring-road at about 1600 to
reach the station. I didn't actually see any lightning or hear any
thunder but it was definitely about as reported by other people.

I went back to work at Westwood, tried to leave at 1715 but the roads
in Canley and the University of Warwick area were totally gridlocked
and I finally got home to Kenilworth at 1900. 1 hr 45 mins to go 4
miles.

Now MS3.7 at Kenilworth.
