I hope you are all happy now
I agree, whilst we would all have sympathies with the girl, this is not the
place to post the somewhat childish sentiment of "Hope your happy
now........"
Do you include this last summers heat? Or midwest US stormchasers?
The Woods Hole Institute for flooding events? The B.A.S. for melting ice
shelves? All these things bring misery and suffering around the globe...
but it's here, on this remarkable day of changing weather, you choose to
take cheap emotional potshots.
Just because Mt. St.Helens killed, it still leaves a sense of awe and
wonder within me. It's these feelings that drive vulcanologists to
understand volcanoes, and as we know, an understanding of the science behind
events enables us to predict and perhaps save lives.
The weather is no different. If it wasn't for people who wonder and marvel
at the weather, who are interested and exited by it, we would never have the
science and information to give you the warning you had of this cold spell.
How many peoples interest is fired by this newsgroup that may, either as
proffesionals or amateurs, contribute to the honing of forcasting and lead
to better and more accurate warnings?
As with all the scientists i have ever read about, talked to.. it is their
wonder, their childish exitement, their interest and curiosity that keeps
them in their work. This newsgroup expresses all these emotions very well.
I can see no reason to be sorry for the way we are.........

I don't believe it correct to place an emotion such as that on people
for their enjoyment of a natural event. They have not choosen that
enjoyment in preference to this childs suffering. Merely admiring
nature.
I am sure all that post here would hope the child is well, as we do
with any person's injured or suffering in the current conditions.

Fortunately - for the 12 year old kid turning blue with an asthamatic
attack - my service provided me with a 4x4 vehicle which allowed us
to get oxygen and a nebuliser in time to save her life....
I hope you all think snow is fun.
I'm sure I'm one of the few who broke a sweat in these conditions.
Just making the point.
