Default Next week's weather beginning 29/05/05

================================================== ===============

This forecast summary is my *PERSONAL OPINION* of how the weather may unfold
next week. I will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from
its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for
meteorology that I personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others.

================================================== ===============

Summary valid for Sunday 29/05/05 to Saturday 04/06/05
TOI (time of issue) Friday 27/05/05 2000 UK local time

This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

Extensive market research conducted by Haytor meteorological office has revealed
that people wish to see the format of this forecast summary unchanged. However,
a few regular BBC viewers did say that they found the forecasts too technical,
although we at Haytor meteorological office sympathise to some extent with that
view, our considered response is "up yours mate".

Confidence overall is moderate to high, but low on promised fine weather for
Scotland later in the week.

On Sunday a vigorous low pressure system off NE Scotland will move slowly away
northeastwards bringing rain and local west to northwest gales to most of
Scotland, slowly clearing away from the SW during the day. Rather cool with snow
above 1000m. Northern Ireland starting showery but turning brighter with sunny
spells as winds ease. Temperatures around normal. England and Wales look like
being mainly dry with sunny spells and normal temperatures with light winds.

On Monday winds will be light west to northwest with sunny spells in all areas,
a few heavy ones around in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures around
normal.

On Tuesday pressure builds across the UK and probably turning warm in the south
of England. Light winds but still scattered showers with sunny spells during the
day in all parts.

On Wednesday it looks like pressure will remain high to the north of Scotland
but an Atlantic low is set to spread rain eastwards across England and Wales,
perhaps getting into Northern Ireland and southern Scotland later. Northern
Scotland staying dry with a moderate east wind developing. Temperatures just
above normal in most places.

For the rest of the week there is a 60% chance that high pressure to the north
of Britain will ensure fine and settled weather in Scotland and Northern
Ireland, but more rain and showers are likely in England and Wales. Becoming
warm in western Scotland otherwise temperatures around normal with a moderate to
fresh east wind in the north, lighter further south. Alternative scenario at 40%
chance is for rain and showers to occur in all areas.
