BRACKNELL (TF)
0900 S F2-3 25km - 1/CU T165D110
RMK: Total cloud amount = 3 oktas made up of ... 1 Cu hum (no vigour at
all), 1 Ac floccus, 2 Ac (flat/well-broken) & 2 Cirrus s****atus -
indicating instability aloft. Overall, I would describe the sky atm as
'flat' but with potential! We are between the activity in the SE, and
the approaching (but still distant) upper trough to the west, so it's
not surprising that not much is happening.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 11.2 grass min: 09.7 precipitation: NIL
other data: State of ground now back to dry. ]=
1200 SSW F3 28km - 1/CU 4/CC T207D107
RMK: much of past 3 hr, less than 25% cover, but in past 30 mins,
development of Cu (now to mediocris category) and invasion of Ci, Cc &
fragmented Ac, together with unstable looking Sc has increased total
cloud amount to 5 oktas. Marked shear (directional) seen about an hour
ago between low and medium level clouds. Pressure falling fairly smartly
as the upper trough approaches.=
1500 SW F3-4 30km RE-SHRA 2/CU 3/SC 7/AC T179D111
RMK: the Cu mediocris, possibly congestus, but it is hidden in the
thickening / advancing Ac. A very light shower of rain around 1415Z.
Things are looking more 'threatening' now, with grey cloud base taking
over & the wind turning a little more gusty.=
1530 SSW F4 8000 RA 4/SC 7/SC 8/AS
RMK: light rain (-RA) began ~1510Z, now just turned moderate with the
wind ocnl F5 and sharp reduction in visibility.=
1540 SSW F5-6 4000 +RA 7/SC 8/NS
RMK: "the doom is come upon us ...".=

1700 SW F3 12km -RA RETS 1/SC 7/SC 8/AS T124D108
RMK: Wind eased considerably after 1600Z: single flash/bang thunder
just after 1600Z, and another couple of distant rumbles ~1620Z; Rainfall
from this event (so far): 7.5mm=
