No this is not a quote from TWO:-) I saw this on ceefax news tonight.
According to the Met office this past 8 months has been the driest for
30 years. Can anyone here vouch for that from their records.
Rainfall anomalies (and average monthly rainfall) for Haytor:
May 2005 100% 85mm
April 2005 179% 92mm
March 2005 66% 133mm
Feb 2005 34% 142mm
Jan 2005 91% 183mm
Dec 2004 54% 209mm
Nov 2004 26% 188mm
Oct 2004 184% 175mm
Average anomaly for past 8 months 92%
Based on ELTA 1971-2000, so I would say definitely *not* the driest for 30 years
here.
In fact October 2004 saw 321.5 mm fall here, the highest monthly total I have
ever recorded in my life!
Will.
