remember those wonderful words in the future when it is announced
what
is *really* happening inside the Met Office.

Martin.

Well, what is *really* happening inside the Met Office? Can you
tell us without compromising your position? It's 38 years since I
worked there.

... Doesn't compromise *my* position: might cause difficulties for those
I know still employed within the organisation; let's put it this way, in
all the literature of the recent past, you will see references to
telephone conferences with the outfield with offices providing services
for the public: in the very near future, those conference facilities can
be crossed off the inventory (and a bit more money saved too).

Martin.

A little dicky bird told me that all the civil outstations
were to be shut by 2007. Seems he/she/it was right. Further evidence,
as if any were needed, that the attitude of the Met Office towards the
public is "you don't pay, so up yours".
