BRACKNELL (TF)
0900 SSW F2-3 40km - 3/CI COTRA T258D111
RMK: considering the length of this hot spell (this will be the 7th
straight day with maxima =25.0ºC), the visibility is remarkably good;
sky, where not covered with Cirrus (largely ex-COTRA), is still
pleasantly 'blue'.
[ OVERNIGHT DATA (18Z - 09Z):
screen min: 14.2 grass min: 11.8 precipitation: NIL
other data: grass now turning 'straw-like', similar to 1976, though in
that year, it tended to go to this state in the local area during
July/early August, rather than late June. With the extended hot spell,
we have turned the all-month temperature anomaly from solidly negative
(down to -1.2degC at one point), to solidly positive (currently
+1.2degC)]=
Martin, I'm curious - what does the (TF) in your header stand for?
Regarding 1976, I was in Bracknell then, living on Hanworth. I remember the dry
brown grass and the fires. I particularly recall some quite serious fires in
the pine forests south of Bracknell and one very close to South Hill Park.
Somehow the drier heat of 1976 felt much more comfortable than the stifling
humidity of last Sunday, or maybe it's just my age.
