It's certainly turning out to be a fascinating spectacle from a safe
distance
(so far) tonight, that I don't yet have to power down the PC. The wind
seems to be a light NE'ly here in Romsey, perhaps a storm inflow breeze.
Interesting that you mention a rainfall echo north of Soton, for we have
yet
to receive any pptn. Is it reaching the ground from this medium-level
storm?
Cheers,
Nigel.
2mm in the hour to 22Z at Bournemouth, Nigel. 0.2mm in the following hour,
the same recorded at Portland.
Radar shows a lot of activity developing in the SE during the last hour,
however, on closer examination I think it must be anaprop.
Jon.
Yes, you're both right... spots of rain here from 2335Z (and the 'booming'
goes on). Last rumble was the loudest, now audible from indoors, about
30 seconds after the flash making the nearest part of the storm to the south
about 6 miles off .
Nigel.
