Two rare sights!

A deep low in July (rare according to the BBC), and a synoptic chart to
describe it!! (News 24, 11:30pm weather forecast)
Clearly they've forgotten last July when a very unusual depression
deepened to 990 mbar over Brittany before heading up the Channel
and into the Low Countries. The July record, though, for an
observing site in the UK, is 968 mbar (in 1964).
As far as I can see, this weekend's low is expected to deepen to
about 980 mbar with nothing below 995 mbar anywhere in the UK.
But, yes, you're quite right. It's good that they're using the odd
synoptic chart. It's more than they managed, I believe, with the
much rarer intense anticyclone in early-June.
