This is looking good for me. I am waiting to cut hay and have been
following the possibilities of this high for several days. If conditions
still look good, I should be able to cut on Friday.

Did you take a scalping for silage or what? I would have thought that
you should have had it in by the 21st of June or thereabouts.

No, no silage. I am part of a Welsh agri-environmental scheme called Tir
Gofal. Under that scheme I am not normally allowed to cut hay before
15th July. This year, because the grass has seeded a little earlier than
normal, I have been given a derogation to cut early.

If it gets damp now you will be in trouble, will you?

Yes. I had that problem last year. Fortunately, I had enough in the hay
loft for two years but I really need some good hay this year. The up
side is that I have "old fashioned" hay meadows that have lots of
flowers in them. The hay is of a superb quality.
