Once again I have an uncomfortable feeling about the Solent MRSC
maximum temperature. The highest half hourly METAR at Southampton A/P
(12 miles inland) was 24 deg C so a probable max there not exceeding
25. My own maximum (5 miles inland from Solent) was 25 degrees C +/-
0.5, albeit in a shaded screen.

Such discrepancies make me nervous. The wind direction at Solent was W
to NW during the afternoon so the maximum there should have been close
to that at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton - does anyone
have access to Thursday's climatological data from there? I'd love to
find out what their maximum was.
