Rainfall radar
http://www.metoffice.com/weather/eur...animation.html
Areas of rain and showers move north over eastern Ireland, Wales, the
Midlands, northern England and much of Scotland on Thursday afternoon
and
evening. Thunderstorms move from the west Midlands to NE England.

Bingley, Valley and Cottesmore 23 mm, Capel Curig and Leeming 24 mm,
Capel
Curig 25.2 mm, Church Fenton 26.0 mm, Topcliffe 27.2 mm, Dishforth
31.1
mm, Aberdaron 32.6 mm, Linton-on-Ouse 38.3 mm, Aberporth 44.8 mm,
Milford Haven 65.1 mm.

.... surprised to hear, yet again, the comment by one of the weather
presenters to the effect that 'we needed the rain' etc., etc. The rain
has affected areas that, afaik, don't actually need a great deal, whilst
we here in the southeast (where there is an acknowledged problem) have
largely missed out on the higher totals.

Martin.
