Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think the Mistral could blow from
the southwest (240/16)

Jack,

The pressure setup is correct, with a N/NW gradient. The METAR history shows
a NW through the night but as insolation increases the wind backs, some sort
of coastal effect, sea breeze ?

I am sure you know LFMN, the weather station is pretty much "in the sea".

I may be wrong, but my French friends who live down there emailled me to
draw my attention to it, themselves calling it Le Mistral.
