Default Air France A340 Crash Toronto

Quite agree Martin. I have encountered a number of strikes throughout my
career with no adverse affect (apart from jumping out of my own skin).
Looking at the METARS the weather was not pleasant at all, but again there
are so many other factors that may come to light. I can recall one time on
landing, the anti-skid packed up and the spoilers did not deploy. Dry sunny
day, no problem, just a lot of writing in the tech log. Now on a wild wet
day hmmm....

The best news is everyone got out, that is a blessing.

John

... I'm not doubting the lightning strikes; what I wonder is why it is
assumed this was the *cause* of the problem - if it was, we'd have
aircraft falling out of the sky every day & careering off runways all
over the world.

Martin.
