Excuses, you're right, Philip! Its the record for the first third of
February ( we call it "decade"; first 10 days).
The other warmth-records a (warm days you've mentioned :-) )
13 Feb 1998 16.2 C (second third )
(20 Feb 1990 16.9 C)
28 Feb 1959 17.3 C (also the February warmth record)

I remember a day in Febraury 1961 or 62, whwn the temperature was said to be
"in the 70s". Isn't that a contender for the record?

Anybody have the exact details?
