Two signs of the season in Buckingham:
MONDAY: very warm and sunny; late afternoon two nests of ants (small,
black) flew.
TUESDAY : warm and mostly sunny; combine harvester thundered up our road;
later, tractor came down twice with giant trailer-loads of grain.
Thistle is in seed, the fireweed due shortly and most of the Mountain
Ash is yellowing and full of berries.
You can reckon on a couple of weeks of summery weather when the fireweed
is in seed. That's it then. A pause full of mist and suddenly you are
looking at winter.
