The AC/DC adaper that feeds my Solwise adsl modem has a bad wiring
connection were it goes into the sealed unit that plugs into the 3-pin
household socket. It has be fixed on 9v 1100mA. Looking at Maplins I can
only find 9v 400mA, 300mA, not being to up on this what's the difference
and would a 400mA one be ok?

Only if you want to start a fire...

a 300mA or 400mA unit will fry if the load really needs 1A current.

You would be better off getting a unit rated for 1.5A & 9v and you will
need to know polarity and connector type if the thing is a DC supply.

If you don't know what you are doing you would be better off buying a
replacement PSU or modem. They spend too long on power to take chances.
