Default How are sun totals doing for the south?

In Penzance about 0.6 degrees above the 1971-2000 norm. (Just about
spot on the 1991-2004 norm, showing how warm recent Augusts have been.)

Only 3 days in August have failed to reach 20 degrees. Currently (13:30
BST) 20.8 and rising. Sunny spells, calm & humid.

Philip Eden's site is a good one to keep an eye on to see how the month
fares for rain, temperature and sunshine:-

Looks as if the SW of England is doing quite nicely!

Yes, I do look at Philip's site fairly regularly.

Unexpectedly sunny this afternoon. The stratus broke up this morning, with
no high level cloud above. Plenty of cumulus inland, but virtually unbroken
sunshine on the coast since 14:00, with good visibility. Temperature back to
a respectable 21.5 max in strong sunshine and very little wind.
