Default Weds 24th August - Isle of Wight

I was away for the whole of last week, camping at Whitecliff Bay on the
Isle of Wight, so wasn't able to keep in touch with the weather
situation over the past week. However, I was aware of the impending
weather for Wednesday (as you pay close attention to wind and rain when
you are out camping!).

The weather on Wednesday was atrocious to say the least. We had planned
a day out to the Needles for that day - most of the attractions there
were closed and it was near-on impossible to stand on the clifftops and
look out to sea as the wind was so strong. It rained continuously for
the whole day from around 9am until at least 8pm, quite heavily at times
(noticeable when you are outside the whole time!). Luckily we only lost
one tent on the campsite to the wind (and no one was using that tent at
the time). However, quite a few peoples' things were soaked from leaking
seams and the guyrope was torn off the corner of another tent (these
were the large 8-man white canvas tents).

The rest of the week was fair but cool. There was one particularly heavy
shower at 1pm on Thursday and several other showers could be seen
passing to the north and south on Thursday afternoon. I was able to pay
a visit to the Bembridge Weather Stone Meteorological Forecasting Centre
on Tuesday!

I can't see anything on the newsgroup giving a summary of events of
Wednesday, such as wind gusts and rainfall totals. Can anyone give a
summary or pointer to where I could look for such information?
