Default Unexpectedly good couple of days

Have to say I'm surprised at this warm, sunny spell yesterday and
today. The charts showed lower-than-average pressure in the 1010-15
range, so I wasn't expecting particularly good weather. It means that
(once again) the first week of September has been fine - think we have
to go back to 2000 to find something otherwise.

I guess, rather like those days when pressure is high but upper-level
features cause unexpected cool, showery weather (July 31, August 1)
some upper level feature is compensating for the apparently lowish
pressure on the ground?

The recent spell has been probably better than all other days (and nights)
this summer here (Yorks dales). Very calm quiet weather with a truly
continental feel. Back to mobility today unfortunately. I too look for high
pressure on the charts and was also surprised at this beautiful period
during which there was no weather. I noted the lack of jetstream activity
over the UK at the time.
