.... and up here, that tad bit further north on Fair Isle, we managed
a max of 10.2°C. A bright day with plenty of sunshine, a few light
showers ('micro' CB9 with 'anvils' at c4000ft) and a fresh N'ly
breeze.
Amusing to see visitors arriving off the 'plane all wrapped up
against the cold, locals standing around in shirt-sleeves!!

Fair Isle
I remember as a 9 or 10 year old spending a week in June on the Orkney
Isles as part of a school excursion.
My school had been twined with Dounby primary (if you know it Dave?) and
each pupil had a penpal.
Anyway, on one sunny day we all went to the beach beside Skara Brae (bay of
scale I think it's called, Karl?).
It might have been sunny, but the temperature was around 12ºC with a stiff
wind. Needless to say it was easy to distinguish between the mainlanders and
the Orcadians that day at the beach. Frostbite aside, it was a great
experience from my childhood - and where I learned to swim!
