Default (Seriously OT) Slaters???

Everyone -

Sorry guys and gals to be completely off topic...!

What are 'slaters' - are they these little armour plated insects (?)
crustaceans (??) that you get under rotting logs and such like??

Googling for slaters gets me nowhere apart from lots of "roofers" (:

On things with lots of legs has anybody else noticed the great daddy -
long - legs invasion this year??

Les
