First Gale
It's howling a hooley here too. Heavy, horizontal rain with a 'river'
running down the street outside. 6.0 mm of rain in the last hour, it has got
heavier recently so that total should shoot up.
Don't know how windy it 'really' is because my anemometer is in a unsuitable
place (old Devonshire cob cottages weren't designed with a weather station
in mind).

First gale of the autumn in west Cornwall. Gusting to 45mph here, not
quite a gale, but it is on the sea front with gusts 50-60 mph, 50mph
recently at Culdrose. Thoroughly unpleasant with driving rain. The
deterioration was really rapid.
Apparently it's 'very unpleasant on the roads' according to the MetO. It's
pretty unpleasant in my back garden (due to the weather, not the general
appearance).
