First day of the winter with snow falling here (a mix of hail and snow
falling as I type). A very light dusting on the ground with 50% cover -
so enough to count as a day with lying snow. I think that, since 1986,
only 1993 (16 Oct) and 2001 (8 Nov) have had snow lying earlier.

Still waiting for the first air frost though. Min last night was 0.4C.
It seems that only 1999 (21 Nov) and 1977 (17 Nov) have had later first
air frosts in the past 50 years.
