Default Hemsby / #3496?

If you put the map coordinates into Autoroute it comes up in the middle of a
field!

Between the villages of St Margaret South Elmham & Saint Michael South
Elmham, south west of Bungay.

Nowhere near Hemsby

Anyone know if Hemsby /#3496 is still reporting.

I thought it had shut in 2001, but this site appears to show data

for
the
station

http://meteo.infospace.ru/wcarch/htm...tn.sht?stn=245

I think it's just that they haven't updated their basic information

....
I
see
they are still using 03534 for Birmingham airport which closed as a
SYNOP station 3 or 4 years ago. The observation on the Hemsby
page is probably Coltishall (03495), and for Birmingham it's
undoubtedly Coleshill (03535).

Its not Coltishall (or any other local station I can find) as the data

does
not match the Coltishall data available here
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/res...imvisgsod.html

I have to say I am completely stumped. I've gone extracted data
for the last three weeks, compared them to all available stations in
the area, and there's no match. But the figures look entirely realistic
for somewhere in east Norfolk.
Doesn't seem to be a Wunderground station in the area either.
I suppose it might be one of the USAF bases in East Anglia but
I don't think they go to the bother of recording sunshine, etc.

All the other sites they report seem to be standard synoptic
stations, so I'm baffled.
