Dutch Met Office KNMI reports an average temperature for the 3 autumn months
at De Bilt of 12.0°C - long-term norm is 10.2°C. This makes it the warmest
autumn there since formal records started in 1901 and the joint warmest with
1731 in the full temperature record which goes back to 1706. Previously
the warmest autumn was 1969 with an average of 11.7°C.

Autumn 2005 was the second sunniest in De Bilt since records started in
1901 - 444 hours' sunshine compared with a long-term norm of 298 hours.
Only autumn 1959 was sunnier with 449 hours.

Interesting Colin how 1969 again rears it's head, it just keeps coming
back to haunt me, expect a winter like 1970, which also fits in with
Paul's thoughts
