GFS getting it's knickers in a twist - what do you think ?
Lawrence I do not see any reason to change my forecast. Last few runs of
GFS I
think were mis-handling "epsilon", dragging it into the flow as an
elongated
trough just did not look right to me. ECMWF and UKMO both largely kept it
out of
the mid-latitude circulation and I notice that the 12Z ECMWF is now
building
pressure over the UK linking it to the Scandinavian high (see
www.ecmwf.int) ,
much like the "pre-epsilon" GFS a couple of days ago. The balance is in
favour
of a blocking pattern with high pressure slowly becoming established
around the
UK, how much of an easterly develops in the south is still very much open
to
question but the moderate possibility is still there in my view.
Will.
