Exceptionally wet start to December
A very wet and miserable start to December here. Already 40.4mm has
fallen which is over half the monthly average. Daily totals have been
as follows:
1st: 3.6mm
2nd: 18.2mm
3rd: 6.8mm
4th: 5.0mm
5th:6.8mm (so far)
Only one day out of the last 12 (29th Nov) has failed to record
measurable precipitation with every other day apart from the 30th
having at least 1mm.
The rain has been heavy at times as well with 25mm/hr recorded today
and 22mm/hr on the 2nd.
As well as being wet it has also been dull with only around 2 hours of
sun for the last 6 days.
Fortunately the BBC are forecasting the winds to change to W./S.W. soon
so the weather should turn a lot drier and brighter.
Also of note today was the 21st consecutive day I have recorded with a
max below 10C. Probably the longest such sequence this early in the
winter since 1977.
