I came across this old photograph I had taken of the TV screen circa

It is reassuring just how much clearer the graphics are today (???!!!)
The presenter (arms waving) looks remarkable like today's Desperate Dan
- his grandfather perhaps?
It's probably Tom Clifton, who with George Cowling formed the first BBC
TV weather team.
Tom was an instructor at the Met Office Training School, then based at
RAF Barnwood in Gloucester. His son went to the same primary school as
me and used to bring in some of the old maps.
