Southcote (W. Reading).
Patches of 'cloud' observed to NW thru' to ENE since 1030. Resembles
high Sc and is dark grey or black in colour. Believed to have originated
from oil storage depot explosions at Hemel Hempstead.
Did not hear anything here, even though I was up and about.
We didn't actually hear the explosion here in Bracknell (at least where we
are), but the house gave a violent sharp shudder just after 0600Z
... elevated smoke now cutting down the general light levels here in
Bracknell: sun still shining strongly, but effect now almost eclipse-like.
Martin.
Smoke clouds arrived here about half an hour ago, it became quite dark for
a while, but its now much thinner althiough covering about 70% of the sky.
Smoke shown to be covering much of the Home Counties on the Met Office
satellite site
