I'm not quite sure what the airport are playing at. Here, 3km from the
airport,
the weather is stunning ... a virtually cloudless sky, brilliant sunshine
(more so
even than yesterday afternoon), a regulation slight low-level haze
(left-over
from the early-morning fog) which is reducing horizontal visibility to
5 or 6km. From my viewpoint the southern horizon is not visible so I
can't even so the smoke plume. It's certainly not "reducing visibility".

Could be in as much as it is causing problems for the holding and
approach routes. I'd guess that there are a number of diversions for
Luton, LHR and so on.
