Default [OT] Lighter Evenings & Spring.

Graham,

12-inch high daffs were observed nearby 2 weeks ago. The buds were still
tightly closed but well formed.

In Sidmouth a Camellia was in full bloom in November which is most
unprecedented.

Any sign of yellow mimosa trees flowering yet in W. Cornwall?

What is also interesting is that some beech tree and black currant bush buds
have already burst. Some of the beech tree leaves are 2 inchs long and more
akin to their development in May. They are sure to get clobbered by frost,
but I hope that this does not affect their growth in the Spring proper.

What I am enjoying so much at the moment is the dryness. My back garden is
normally a no-go area at this time of year. In fact normally from November -
March; we have very thin top soil and unbelievable heavy clay beneath. This
winter no problem at all so far......

Richard.

Daffs pouring over from Scilly now, just in time for Christmas. Camellias
in full bloom in Penzance. Nice picture on www.cornwallcam.co.uk/. Also,
our honeysuckle's decided to bloom. Still no frost so the osteospermum,
geraniums and euryops still have flowers.

We never seem to get decent autumn colours on the trees in Cornwall, but
having so many flowers out in mid winter more than makes up for it.
