Not bad. In Southampton it seemed to be dryish but not as spectacularly
dry as places further east. No individual month appeared to be
extremely dry, and some (April, July, October) seemed wetter than
normal.

January produced nearly constant drab weather (so what's new), the 18th
consecutive without proper widespread snow in central southern England.
On the plus side it was drier than normal.

February was more interesting with frequent snow showers towards the
end but it never settled. Probably an average February in the pre-1987
sense.

A fairly average spring and early summer, in other words quite pleasant
with a good number of bright days. No spectacularly warm spells - one
notable thing was the frequency of sunny days with temperatures a
little below the average, particularly in May and early June, quite
rare in the summer half of the year.

Quite a good summer, not spectacularly hot and no long lasting highs,
but rather a series of short lived highs with little in the way of
protracted bad spells. Sun without very high temperatures was another
notable feature particularly in August. This last feature made it quite
an unusual summer.

Autumn was fairly average on the whole, a typical mix of mostly-dry
September and mostly-wet October. The persistent warm temperatures in
October were notable though.

Most of November and December have been pleasantly dry.

Sadly the 2005/06 transition appears to be like the 2003/04 transition,
2004 being one of the poorest years for weather in the area in recent
history.
