nicely shows a "pulse" of colder air travelling across Europe starting
on the 7th and arriving at the UK on the 9th.

It's also arguably quicker, if you decide that you only want to expand
one or two of the charts..

.... after recent improvements, I would now recommend:-

where the animation panel is very good, and the output shows the
*thickness* as the coloured field, rather than the 500 hPa, which former
is more intuitive when trying to trace areas of warm and cold air.
