Default Greek weather update

Good morning, everyone.

The start of 2006 has been thundery in areas of Greece, including Athens,
and -yet again- snowy in the notorious northwest of the country. The early
January mix contained it all, from ice days in western Macedonia to very
mild 17C's in the SE Aegean isles. Athens is already counting 2 days with
thunderstorm and is getting prepared, along with eastern continental Greece
and the isles, for a quite long spell of cooler weather with T850's below MS
05 beginning on Sunday afternoon. Depending on the exact position of the
eastern European anticyclone, snowfalls could be quite persisting in parts
of wind prone areas such as Evia island and northern Athens/Attica. I'm
personally expecting sleet with snowy intervals for most of Athens, apart
from the northern suburbs that should be getting more of the odd snow
showers.

All the best for now,

Yannis, SE Athens
