Rochdale, described by Philip Eden as "The wettest town in England
with a population of over 50,000", lies at the foot of the Pennines
north of Manchester.
Statistics for this town back to 1879 (in the case of rainfall) can
be found at www.clmbl.plus.com.

Burnley and Bolton look similar, the coastal towns are much drier.
Of course Greenock in Scotland (pop 55000) trounces them with 1500-1600mm of
rain and both Paisley and East Kilbride are a little wetter than the English
trio. Swansea also shades Rochdale/Burnley and Bolton.
