ESPECIALLY BY MEANDERING,I SUGGEST STORY IS APOCRIPHAL.

message in a bottle thrown into the sea in Morecambe Bay last July has
turned up in Australia. The report said it had travelled 9000 miles. I
haven't checked the distance but, if correct, that's an average speed of
about 2 knots. A bottle would, of course, travel by a meandering route so
the actual average speed would have to be higher.

I find this story very hard to swallow. I wonder if someone gave the
bottle a helping hand on the way :-)
