Click on 500mb height charts.
Classic well-established omega block with SE England in cold quarter.
If that comes off, spells of heavy snow for SE England.
I get the feeling you've not given up on something coming off in the
next week Will, even when the rest of us are losing hope? I guess here
in Southend-on-Sea I am in one of the best places if it does come off.
Keith, I don't understand why the rest of you are losing hope. Very
little has changed on the GFS (apart from normal day to day
variations) since Will first mentioned the 30% probability of
something "very interesting" from the East - and that's still how the
GFS looks to me. Very interesting, with lots of very cold air not far
East of us and at times, touching the East/South East of England.
In this situation *anything* could happen and that's a lot better for
lovers of snow and cold than we can usually say at this time of year,
these days.
