One striking difference between conditions in the middle of last century
and now is the sea temperature. The current chart:

shows the North Sea about 2 degrees warmer than the "mean" then, and
between 1 and 2 degrees warmer to our west and north e.g. the 5 degree
isotherm near Iceland then seems to have been replaced by the 7 degree now!
