Default Extereme Cold Weather??

In message , Dave Ludlow
writes
+7 °C Exceptionally mild
+6 to +7 °C Exceptionally mild
+4 to +5 °C Very mild
+2 to +3 °C Mild
-1 to +1 °C Normal
-2 to -3 °C Rather cold
-4 to -5 °C Cold
-5 °C Very cold

On a similar note, my partner, who is Brazilian, considers the British
weather thus...

+30°C Hot(ish)
30°C to 25°C Warm
25°C to 20°C Normal
20°C to 15°C Mild
15°C to 10°C Cool
10°C to 5°C Cold
5°C to 0°C "Freezing"
sub-0°C "I'm going home to mother"

On a similar tack, I have a theory that our personal comfort levels in
relation to air temperature is dependent upon the time of year we were
born (particularly those of us who are pre-central heating!). For
example, I was born in December 1946 and spent my first months in a pram
in an unheated hallway!

I joined the RAF in late 1962 and spent that winter in a wooden hut with
just a pot-bellied coal stove for heating! So it is not surprising that
I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 years in northern Labrador (where -40°C is not
uncommon).
